PATIENT RIGHTS

YEDITEPE UNIVERSITY DENTAL HOSPITAL PATIENT AND PATIENT RELATIVES’ RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES DECLARATION
As Yeditepe University Dental Hospital, we believe that every patient has the right to benefit from all possibilities of modern medicine in a manner worthy of human dignity. The following articles cover the legal and ethical rights of all patients receiving treatment at our institution.
- Right to Benefit from Services
Every individual who applies to our hospital has the right to benefit from all services without discrimination based on language, religion, race or sect. In emergency situations, every patient has the right to receive priority and urgent care.
- Right to Information and Consent Approval
Our patients, or their legal representatives, have the right to receive full information about their health condition in a language and method they can understand, including the recommended medical interventions, the potential risks and benefits of each intervention, the expected outcome and the process to follow.
Except for medical and legal obligations, our patients have the right to decide on the treatment to be applied after being informed about serious side effect risks, risk of death, recovery-related problems, chance of success and similar matters related to their condition. When the patient exercises this right, it is accepted that they have approved the procedures to be performed. Our patients also have the right to review and request copies of their medical records, examinations and laboratory results.
- Right to Know, Choose and Change Personnel
Our patients have the right to know the identity, duties and titles of the doctor responsible for their treatment, as well as the nurses and other healthcare personnel, and to choose or change them to the extent applicable.
- Right to Choose and Change the Institution
Our patients have the right to choose and change the healthcare institution and organization, provided that the procedures and conditions stipulated by the relevant legislation are followed.
- Right to Refuse and Stop Treatment
Except in legally mandatory situations, and provided that the responsibility for any negative consequences belongs to the patient, the patient has the right to refuse or request the termination of the treatment planned or currently being applied, within the procedures deemed appropriate by the regulations. The patient also has the right to refuse or accept participation in research or experimental procedures.
- Right to Privacy and Confidentiality
Our patients have the right to receive services in an environment that respects privacy throughout the entire treatment process. This right also includes the protection of patients with special needs, such as children, elderly patients, disabled patients or patients with mental disabilities. In addition, sign language, an interpreter or appropriate support is provided for patients with communication barriers.
- Right to Respect
Our patients have the right to receive examinations and treatment in a respectful, compassionate and friendly environment, with their personal dignity protected at all times and under all circumstances.
- Right to Fulfil Religious Obligations
Our patients have the right to freely fulfil their religious obligations, regardless of religious differences, provided that this does not interfere with their treatment.
- Right to Safety
Everyone has the right to expect and request safety within the healthcare institution. Necessary measures are taken by our hospital to protect and ensure the life and property safety of patients, visitors and companions
- Right to Have a Companion and Visitors
Our patients have the right to receive visitors and have a companion in accordance with the procedures and principles determined by our hospital.
PATIENT RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to ensure that services are not disrupted and that the highest level of efficiency is achieved, our patients also have certain responsibilities.
- Providing Information
Patients are responsible for providing doctors and nurses responsible for medical services with complete and accurate information about their health condition. Our patients are also obliged to comply with identity verification procedures for security purposes.
- Following Recommendations
Patients are responsible for complying with the treatment plan recommended by the doctor responsible for their treatment and accepting the implementation of the care plan by the relevant healthcare personnel in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
- Refusing Planned Treatment
The patient is responsible for the consequences that may arise from refusing the treatment planned by the doctor.
- Complying with Healthcare Institution Rules
Patients are responsible for complying with hospital rules and practices. The patient is also responsible for following post-discharge care instructions, medication use and control appointments communicated to them during the treatment process.
- Showing Respect
Patients are responsible for acting in accordance with the measures and rules taken by the hospital in situations that may endanger or disturb other patients and their relatives, such as noise or visitor-related disturbances within the hospital.
- Infection Control
Patients and their relatives are responsible for carefully following all measures recommended to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Payment Responsibility
Patients who are responsible for their own payments are required to pay for examination and treatment expenses. Patients and their relatives are also responsible for paying for any intentional damage caused to fixtures and consumable materials.
- Patient Visitors
Patients are responsible for accepting as few visitors as possible at the same time, ensuring that visitors do not bring food or drinks, do not use belongings of other patients and comply with hospital visiting hours.
- Inappropriate Requests
The patient should not request the administration of any medication or any procedure that is not deemed appropriate by the authorized doctor and is not included in the treatment plan.
COMMUNICATION AND APPLICATION CHANNELS
Right to Submit Complaints, Opinions and Suggestions
In the event of a violation of patient rights, the patient and the patient’s family have the right to have the complaint mechanism initiated, reviewed, concluded and to be informed of the outcome.
Our patients may submit their complaints and suggestions to the Patient Rights and Patient Services Unit located on the entrance floor of our hospital through written, verbal or electronic channels, including telephone (Extension: 6384), e-mail or face-to-face application.
